RadonIndex

Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains what personal information RadonIndex handles, how we use it, and the choices you have. RadonIndex covers the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area and is operated from Ontario, Canada. We handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Effective date: September 7, 2026.

What information does RadonIndex collect?

Almost none. RadonIndex is a directory you read. There is one optional quote form, no contact form, no sign-up and no account, so there is nothing here for you to fill in and nothing for us to store. If you email us, we hold that email and whatever you chose to put in it. Our host also keeps standard server logs, including your IP address and browser type, to keep the site online and secure. Please do not send us sensitive information such as financial account numbers.

How does RadonIndex use it?

We use your email only to answer you. We do not sell personal information, we share nothing with the businesses listed on this site except what you send through the quote form, and we do not use it for advertising. Server logs are used only for security, troubleshooting and preventing abuse.

Does RadonIndex contact the businesses on your behalf?

No, and this is worth stating plainly. RadonIndex does not pass your details to anyone. When you find a business here you contact it yourself, using the phone number or website on its profile. Anything you then tell that business is between you and them, under their own privacy practices. We are not part of that conversation and never see it.

Does RadonIndex use cookies or analytics?

We do not run third-party analytics, advertising pixels or cross-site trackers, and the site sets no cookies of its own. Our host may set what is strictly necessary to serve the pages. Because nothing here tracks you across the web, there is no advertising profile of you to opt out of. If we ever add analytics, we will update this policy first and describe your choices.

How does RadonIndex handle business listing data?

Our directory lists businesses using public information, such as company names, addresses, phone numbers, ratings and reviews sourced from Google Maps and business websites. Most of that is business information rather than information about a person. Two parts of it are not, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. A profile page can quote a short excerpt from a Google review alongside the reviewer's first name, exactly as Google published it, and a business run under a person's own name carries that name. Both are personal information, and the requests below cover them.

If you own a listed business and want your listing corrected or removed, email hello@radonindex.ca with your business name and what you want changed. You do not have to give a reason to be removed. We process removal and correction requests, usually within 2 business days.

If you wrote a Google review that we quote and you would rather not appear here, email the same address with a link to the profile page and the first name shown, and we will take the quote off this site, usually within 2 business days. We can only remove it from RadonIndex. Your review stays on Google until you change or delete it there, because we do not control Google.

What are your privacy rights under PIPEDA?

Under PIPEDA you can ask what personal information RadonIndex holds about you, request a copy, ask us to correct it, and withdraw your consent to our use of it. In practice we hold nothing about you beyond the server logs our host keeps, unless you have emailed us or a review you wrote is quoted on a profile page. To exercise any of these rights, email us and we will respond within a reasonable time, generally 2 business days for a first reply.

How does RadonIndex comply with CASL?

Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) governs commercial email. RadonIndex sends no marketing email, no newsletters and no promotional blasts. If you email us, we reply to you. If we ever introduce optional marketing email, it will be strictly opt-in with a clear unsubscribe link in every message, as CASL requires.

How does RadonIndex store and retain data?

We keep email correspondence only as long as needed to handle it and any follow-up. We have not set a fixed retention period, and we would rather say that than publish a number we do not actually count to. We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect what we hold, though no method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure.

Three companies are involved, and it is fairer to name them than to call them "our providers". This site is hosted by Vercel, a United States company. It serves these pages from whichever of its locations is closest to you, which for a reader in this region is usually a Canadian one, and it keeps the standard server logs described above under its own schedule that we do not set. Email you send to hello@radonindex.ca is relayed by Forward Email LLC, a United States provider, and delivered into a mailbox hosted by Google. So anything you email us is stored outside Canada, on servers subject to the laws of the country they sit in, including lawful access by authorities there. If that matters for what you want to tell us, say only what you are comfortable storing there.

How do I contact RadonIndex about privacy?

For any privacy question or request, email hello@radonindex.ca. If we make material changes to this policy, we will post the updated version here with a new effective date. Please also review our terms of service, which govern your use of RadonIndex.

What happens to what I send through the quote form?

If you fill in the quote form, we pass your name, contact details and your description of the job to one company listed in your area, so they can quote the work. One company, never a list, and never a pool of firms bidding against each other for you. The form will not send until you tick the box that says so, and that tick is recorded with the date and the exact sentence you agreed to. If you change your mind afterwards, write to us and we will delete what you sent.

Nothing else about you goes anywhere. Reading this site sends nobody anything.RadonIndex sells no leads and no company can buy a better position: the order on every list comes from a published formula. When you call a company from a profile here, that call goes straight to the company, and we are not told it happened.
