About RadonIndex

Last updated: By RadonIndex Research Team

RadonIndex is an independent directory of radon testing and mitigation companies in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. This page explains who builds it, the single rule that decides who gets listed, and the limits of what a directory like this can tell you about a health risk.

Who runs RadonIndex?

RadonIndex is compiled and maintained by the RadonIndex Research Team, an independent editorial team. We are not owned by, funded by, or affiliated with any listed business, and no business can pay for a better position. The team builds the dataset from public Google Maps records, applies the ranking formula published on our methodology page, and reviews every dataset and price guide before it goes live.

What does RadonIndex do?

One thing, on purpose. It lists the radon companies in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area that we can evidence, and shows you the evidence. There is no lead selling here: a claimed listing carries the company's own phone number and website, and an unclaimed one carries a request form that reaches us, not a list of companies. We track 35 businesses in 2 categories, radon testing and radon mitigation.

How does RadonIndex make money without selling rankings?

RadonIndex is free for homeowners and free for contractors. Today the directory earns nothing; if it ever does, revenue will come from clearly labelled promotion, kept separate from the rankings on purpose. No company can buy a higher rank, ever. Keeping money and rankings apart is the whole point, because a directory you cannot trust is worthless.

What are RadonIndex's editorial standards?

Four rules, on every page. A company is listed only on evidence from its own website. Rankings are never for sale. Every published price is re-checked against a cached copy of the source it is attributed to, by a script, before it can appear. And anyone can ask for a correction. There is a fifth thing we will not do: publish a radon health number we could not fetch and verify ourselves.

  • No pay-to-rank

Placement comes from a transparent, published formula. Paid leads and featured slots are labelled and kept out of the ranking.

  • Google review data

Every rating and review count is public Google Maps data. We do not write, buy or edit reviews.

  • Named pricing sources

Every figure names its source, and a gate re-finds that figure inside a cached copy of the source page before the build is allowed to publish it.

What is in the RadonIndex dataset?

The August 2026 RadonIndex dataset holds 35 GTA radon businesses spread across 2 categories and 11 mapped areas. The average Google rating is 4.9 stars across 29 companies carrying a Google rating. Across all 35 listings the median review count is 18 reviews per business, and 71% of them hold a rating of 4.8 stars or higher. We map each company to a Toronto neighbourhood, borough or GTA city so results reflect who serves your street.
